Through the efforts of the United States department of commerce, the onee useless cornc*ob gives promise of Tbecoming vaftiable as a source of by-products. Among these by-products are lignin, ethyl, aleohol, cellulose, adhesive, acetic acid, glucose and carbon. As an example of what ean be done, rayon has been dyed with co!ors made from the lignin.
