MEET THE CANDIDATES
Our editorials in the last two issues of Ke Alahou have emphasized the importance of responsible voting, knowing the issues and the many candidates running for the position of trustee. Continuing these aims, we are devoting the greater part of this issue to this upcoming election. We have sent out a questionnaire to the one hundred and thirtysix candidates registered with the Lt. Governor's office, and have received the following replies. We had asked all the candidates the same five questions and asked them to limit their responses to short answers. The questions were:

THE QUESTIONS:
1. What qualifications should the Director of the Office of Hawaiian Affairs have? 2. Should the Director be only of Hawaiian ancestry? 3. How will you keep in tpuch with the voters? 4. What are your qualifications for the job of trustee? 5. How would you describe your candidacy (programs, goals, etc.}? The editors and staff of Ke Alahou chose these questions to gain more specific responses from the candidates rather than dwell jjppn biography and general statements. We hope these responses will help those of you who are registered to vote on November 4th to make a responsible choice. We want also to thank the did respond for their cooperation, time and effort in this public service for our readers and wish them the very best.""" Editor's Note: We will continue with our regular format of news and articles in the next issue of Ke Alahou,
