On Wednesday, March 15, Brigham Young University at Laie, under the direction of Dr: Ishmael Stagner, presented "Na Makua Mahalo īa [The Most Honored} ,, program in commeration of the schoors silver jubilee. Honored were some of the most eelebrated personalities in Hawaiiian mus|c # dance and chant. Those honored comprised a golden, all-star cast of Hawaiian entertainers and experts in Hawaiiana. The receipients of awards were the late lūlani Luahine and Aunty Edith Kanakaole. Receiving hers in abssntia was Mrs. Mary Kawena Pukui, however those p.resent were Bill Aliiloa Lineoln, Alvin Kaleolani Issacs, John Kamealoha Almedia, and Aunty Alige Namākelua. Dr. Dan W. Anderson, president of BYU*s Hawaii campus closed the program and stated in regards to the awards, 'This evening I have had a very intimate and moving experience, realizing that the signature on the citation was but a small reward for the beautiful talent that we have seen this evening. I am pleased that this institution has had the good sense to honor an award for what we have witnessed this evening." ,For some it was a night to remember and for others a ehanee to be able to feel the past with an encouragement for the future.
