QUEEN’S HOSPITAL TRUSTEES’ MEETING

PHYSICIANS DELIVER REPORTS Report Shows Number of Deaths and Cases Treated During Past Year —Also Gives Specific Account of Different Diseases. A regular meeting of the Trustees of the Queen's Hospital was held yesterday morning. The reports of Attending Surgeon Dr. C. B. Wood and Attending Physician Dr. C. B. Cooper for the quarter ending December 31 were received and approved. The annual report of Superintendent Johannes F. Eckardt was also received and adopted. This report -bowed the number of patients in the hospital on January 1, 58; admitted during the yea, 759. Total number of patients treated 817, as against 681 in 1897; 811 in 1898; 1043 in 1899, 865 in 1900. The number of deaths, 69, in a total of 817 patients gives a percentage of 8.44 per cent, as against 8 per cent in 1897; 12.33 per cent in 1898; 9.50 per cent in 1899; 9.94 per cent in 1900. Of the 69 deaths, 9 occurred in 12 hours, 6 within 24 hours and 6 within 48 hours of admission. The diseases treated were as follows; Fever (Typhoid 29, Malarial 44) 73; Rheumatism, 32; Debility, 13; Syphilis 39; Gonorrhoea 19; Ulcers and Tumors 89; Disease of the Eye, Ear and Nose 16; Nervous System, 23: Circulating System, 17; Absorbent System, 45: Respiratory System, 81; Digestive System, 80; Cutaneous System, 13; Urinary and Generative System, 53; Organs of Locomotion, 15: Cellular Tissues, 11; Injuries and Accidents, 191; Poisonings, 7; Total 817.
