HURLED FIFTY FEET AND IS MANGLED

ANGEL S CAMP. January 10 -Tom * Kane, cart boss on the Sierra road, sat down :n front of a fire to thaw out a tot of giant powder this morning near town. He had thirty-one sticks in front of him. when one of the sticks exploded, which caused the haianiH? to follow suit. Kane was thrown about fifty feet When he was picked up it was found that his right leg from the ankle to the knee was literally mashed to a pulp, the foot just hanging by a few shreds of flesh. His eyes were also injured, and it is thought he will be made deaf by the concussion, His right leg was amputated Just above the knee.
