A. Haas returned trom San Fran- : cisco by the Alameda yesterday. A. J. Campbell has returned from a business trip to the Coast. Mrs. A. Sherwood was among the arrivals from the Orient by the Hongkong Mam. S. T. Alexander was among the re turning passengers arriving by the Alameda yesterday. Assistant Attorney General Douthitt returned to town on the Alameda yesterday with his bride. James A. Kennedy, manager of the Honolulu Iron Works of Honolulu, is a guest at the Occidental. Col. Charles J. McCarthy arrived yesterday by the Alameda after an extended business trip to the Coast. Hr, E. C. Waterhouse has returned from a two weeks' vacation spent on Kauai with Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Rice. Oscar J. Lewis;the shipping master, is back from San Francisco, having been called to the Coast on a business mission Inspector of Licenses J. Batchelor will make an official tour of Maui the first of next week. Hawaii will also be visited before his return. J C Cohen, manager of the Orphetim. has received word from his wife that her mother, Mrs J. C Walker. di*d in San Francisco on Jan 3.
