A Pleasant Surprise.

The arrival of the Dailey dramatic company, was a most 1 pleasant surprise after a deasth of puhlie entertainmonts. The eom pany whieh arrived by the Mari- | posa is composed of a number of | ladies and gentlemen, ranking second to none of the dramatic fraternity in America. We shall confine ourselves today to a short reference to such well-known i stars as Darrell Vinton. Mortimer Snow, May Canmry anei Mrs. F. M. Bates and shall leave oiir readers in an unbouuded admiration of Miss Josephine Gassman, whose lovely picturo today adorns our paper. The dompany is of the brightest standing, and Mr. Dailey is known as a most efficient and successful manager. The repertoire is manifold, and the season will be opened by the perfotmance of Monte Cristo. If arrangements ean be aeomplished, the first performance will take plaee on next Tuesday. The staging costumes and scenery are something far above anything seen in Honolulu, and in spite of our proverbial hard times it is to be hoped that everybody will turn out and patronize Mr. Dailey and corapany to the | fullest extent. i
