It is finished with a ball an«l socket joint. whieh perraits it to be angled backwards or forwards or to either side as desired. With tbe aid of the ball and socket joint it ean be angle«l in any direction to catch thebreeze, and thus act like a sail. W ith a favurable wind, it is said, the 'cvclist’s umbrella adds from two to five railes per hoor to the speed of travelling.
