Owing to his vigilance anil the constancy of his labors in tho earliar part of tho year, the ponltr\ r raiser is apt to take thii'gs easier now, and liahle to neglect to keep fhe coops of his ehiekena elean. But they need jnst as njnch atteution now as ever, — more if thore is any difference, for the amonnt of droppings increases with the s.zo of tho chickens. lt i» iu nuelean onoiK tbat the ehieken pox usually a]>pears. Abont the sides of tho face and on the comb, wattlcs and earlobes, roay be noticed scabs. If nothing is done for them. the disease sometimes so spreads as to make the h»- >d a solid sore, and even to dost , -'>v the sight and canse death. Komove the scabs a»l rub in dry snlphnr twice a day. A few applications wiil nsnally effect a cure. In the Sonth this diseaso is treated with an ointment of salt and lard rnbbed into fhe sores.
