LOCAL NOTES.

 

            H.B.M.S. Champion is connected to the town by a Mutual kelepaone.

 

            Several passengers are booked to leave here on the Mariposa.

           

            Plans have been drawn for a new armory for the Honolulu Rifles.

 

            The members of Engine Company No. 1 will hold a meeting this evening at their house. It begins at 7:3- o‘clock.

 

            The U.S.S. Senate has confirmed the appointment of H.W. Severance as Consul General at Honolulu.

 

            Rear Admiral Kimberly and his staff officer, Lieut. G.A. Meniam, leave for San Francisco next Wednesday on the Australia.

 

            There will be a meeting of the voters of the fourth ward who are in sympathy with the National Reform Party at the old Armory, Queen street , Saturday evening, at 7:30 o’clock.

 

            Three senting vessels arrived from the Coast this morning with late news, but the Australia coming in, no advantage was gained.

 

            The officers of Company A Honolulu Rifles for the ensuing year are Captain, C.W. Zeigter; First lieutenant, E.H.F. Walters; second lieutenant, E.B. Thomas.

 

            The mail steamer Mariposa is due any moment from the Colonies en route to San Francisco. She will take the mails.

 

            A bag of sugar fell on the carpenter of the S.N. Castle this morning, dislocating his ankle. He was taken to the Queen’s Hospital.

 

            A beautiful illuminated address is on exhibition in the window of the Hawaiian News Company, Merchant street . It is to be presented to Mr. R.A. Mactie. President of the Kilauea Sugar Company on the occasion of his golden wedding anniversary. The address was illuminated by @@@@@@@@@@@.

 

            It is with profound regret that we chronicle the death of James Raymond, son of Mr. Daniel Lyons. The sad event took place Thursday evening at the Queen’s hospital. The poor little fellow was just little over seven years of age. The bereaved father has the entire sympathy of the community.

 

            The Hawaiian hand gives a public concert at the Hotel this evening with the following programme:
